Free cycle training will be on offer every Monday throughout the school holidays to help families cycle confidently on Peak District roads and trails.
The re-opening of four former railway tunnels along the Monsal Trail has made it extremely popular with cyclists, walkers and horse-riders.
Hassop Holiday Cycling sessions, based at the old Hassop Station beside the trail, aim to help cyclists of all ages to ride more confidently and learn trail etiquette.
Professional cycling instructors from Pedal Ready will run the Hassop Holiday cycle training every Monday from July 25 – August 29, 9am-12noon.
The training is subsidised by a grant from the Peak District National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund, which also supports free Cycling Sunday training sessions in Bakewell as part of the Pedal Ready Peak District ‘Summer Cycling’ programme. Training at Summer Cycling events is free, but donations are welcomed to help develop future events.
Cycling Sundays beginners sessions take place at the Bakewell Agricultural Business Centre until the end of July from 9.30-11am, with the chance to go on a short guided ride afterwards. Places for either Hassop Holiday Cycling or Cycling Sundays should be booked on 0114 241 2775. People without a booking may not get a place.
