Theme park to nature reserve

THE BIGGEST nature reserve outside the Peak District is set to be officially opened on the site of the former American Adventure theme park on today (Friday).

Leader of Derbyshire County Council Cllr Andrew Lewer will unveil the 182-acre site, which has been named Woodside Nature Reserve after one of the collieries that once worked there.

The name was picked from several suggested during the consultation period this spring.

The land was bought by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust this year and is on part of the former theme park site.
