Park boost for disabled kids

DERBYSHIRE Dales District Council has secured £60,000 funding to help improve opportunities in its parks for disabled youngsters.

Roundabouts with wheelchair access, musical activity panels, adapted picnic benches and outdoor table tennis tables will be installed in the District Council’s Ashbourne Recreation Ground, Bakewell Recreation Ground and Matlock Hall Leys Park by the end of March this year.

Accessible play equipment will also be added to other District Council parks, including Butts Road in Darley Dale, Highfield Road in Ashbourne and Wirksworth’s Gorsey Bank.
