Reasons to refuse planning permission part 1

New planning guidelines which require developers to build more environmentally-friendly buildings have come into force in North East Derbyshire.

From reducing energy use and waste to using green building materials, North East Derbyshire District Council has produced new ‘Sustainable Buildings’ guidelines following consultation with local people and organisations.

The official document, which is known as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), has been formally adopted by the authority  and is now being used to assess the green credentials of planning applications submitted to the council. It forms part of the authority’s Local Development Framework (LDF) – a set of key development documents that lay out how the local area may develop over the next few years.
