A missing Grade II listed piece of stone which forms the top of a Peak District monument has been recovered after it went missing in December.
The capstone from the 270-year-old Hope Cross, which marks the boundary of the villages of Hope and Edale, disappeared just after Christmas.
It was found in a passing place on the road near Bradwell in the Hope Valley.
A National Trust spokesman said the stone had probably been dumped because of its weight.Follow @csabian
