New Peak District Heritage Centre on its way

PLANS for a heritage centre and business park have moved a step closer

Owners of the Rockmill Business Park at Stoney Middleton want to redevelop the site and create a community facility, a cafe, craftwork units, retail space, car park and tourist accommodation with underground parking.

Members of the Peak District National Park’s planning committee recommended outline planning permission for the redevelopment should be granted.

They noted this would be an exception to national park planning policy, which does not normally allow development outside a village boundary or new build holiday accommodation, so the permission must be taken to a meeting on March 30 for the final decision

Members said the application would create new jobs, more tourist accommodation and generate income from staying visitors.
