Taken for granted

The reconstruction of an Iron Age-style round house is among the innovative projects to receive funds from Peak District Sustainable Development Fund.

The latest round of grants includes £11,000 towards the reconstruction of a round house at the non-profit making Nightingale Holiday and Conference Centre in Great Hucklow.

The grant will help fund the construction, open days and heritage workshops for schools and local people.

Other projects to benefit include: the Kinder 80: Trespass to Treasure celebrations which will receive £1,500; professional folk musician Bella Hardy who will get £9,000 for a project involving local musicians featuring traditional and newly-composed ballads based on the area; and £11,000 to help expand the Peak District Electric Bicycle Network.

The Peak District National Park’s Sustainable Development Fund supports projects in and around the park.

Another roundhouse? Wasn’t there one in Derby that cost a fortune and ended up in the skip?

I’ve heard that “non profit making” expression before…..yeah right!
