Oh joy, the Olympic torch is getting closer

If anyone is interested or in fact can be bothered with this Olympic business then you should know that the Olympic Torch will be welcomed into Derbyshire on Friday 29th June 2012 as part of its 70 day tour around the UK.

The torch will pass through Glapwell, Bolsover, Calow, Chesterfield, Matlock, Darley Dale, Chatsworth, Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne before arriving in Derby City for evening celebrations in Darley Park and Derby Market Place.

On Saturday 30th June, the Flame leaves Derby at 6.41am by Torchbearer from Market Place via St Peters Street, Osmaston Road, Lara Croft Way, Burton Road and Manor Road (A5111). At 7.21am the Flame reaches the Royal Derby Hospital and continues the journey in convoy mode (not visible to spectators) to Burton upon Trent.
