Peak District Artisans Young Artist of the Year

Katherine Smith, from Littleover, was named Peak District Artisans Young Artist of the Year in the Great Dome Arts Festival in Buxton.

The 18-year-old entered three acrylic paintings inspired by beaches and the sea, which she created on her A-level art course.

Two of the canvases show a beach in Heswall, Liverpool, while the third is of waves crashing to shore in Eastbourne, near Brighton.
