Active Peak targets unhealthy and unfit

Visitors and locals alike now have an even greater opportunity to have fun and get fit in the Peak District, thanks to a new campaign launched to mark the first-ever English Tourism Week.

Active Peak – brainchild of official tourist board Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, working in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority – aims to inspire people of all ages and abilities to make the most of the huge range of outdoor and indoor activities on offer all year round.

The campaign – mainly on-line but also including a major media campaign with national tourist board VisitEngland after the London Olympics 2012 – features everything from popular pursuits such as walking and cycling to creative pastimes like dry stone walling and woodcrafts.

And the tourist board unveiled it during VisitEngland’s English Tourism Week (10th to 18th March) to remind people why the Peak District is such a national and international gem during what promises to be a milestone year for domestic tourism.
